Frequently-asked questions

You have questions-we have answers.

How many instructors do you have?

We typically maintain a team of 2 full-time instructors, and 3-4 part-time instructors.

Do I have to stick to a set schedule?

While we recommend you fly frequently (you'll end up paying us less if you do!), we allow you and your instructor to work out a custom schedule that accommodates your life. For that reason, we closely monitor our student load and may from time to time have to institute a wait list for new student starts.

How much does flight training cost?
Your mileage may vary because each student is different, but we recommend budgeting between $14,500 and $15,500 for the Private Pilot Certificate. Based upon current (spring, 2024) market conditions, we should be able to progress a new student through all the single-engine ratings we provide for under $90,000.

What are your payment policies?
We accept cash, check, and major credit cards. We provide discounts for cash/check customers as well as for block customers who fund their flight accounts in $1,500 increments. You may keep a block account funded or pay as-you-go. In any case, payment is due upon completion of each lesson. We reserve the right to refuse service in the event of past-due balances.

Do you accept VA benefits?
The U.S. Department of Education does not recognize Part 61 flight school as "accredited" institutions, and thus we are not permitted to accept VA benefits.

Do you provide financing?

While we may be able to point you in the right direction to investigate financing options, we are not in the financing business and we have no relationships with loan providers. Quite frankly, we are not interested in being the reason you take on debt.

Do you have a syllabus?

Yes, we operate with an in-house syllabus for each certificate and rating. They are constantly reviewed and evolved by our founder and chief pilot to ensure effectiveness and efficacy. We also operate with a detailed Standard Operating Procedure. If you are considering a flight school that does not have a syllabus and SOP, we recommend you run...not walk...in the other direction.

Do you offer sightseeing flights?

No. Our mission is strictly flight training, and we decline to offer any services outside the scope of that mission.

Do you offer aircraft ferry services?

No. Our mission is strictly flight training, and we decline to offer any services outside the scope of that mission.

Do you offer your aircraft for rental?

We typically reserve rental privileges for customers actively pursuing a rating or certificate, or achieving experience requirements for a rating or certificate, for which we are the flight school providing services.

Do you require rental insurance?

We do not, but we highly recommend it. Like any flight school, we carry industry-standard insurance on our instructors and our fleet. And like any policy, ours is designed to shield us from liability to certain third parties. No flight school can prevent its insurance carrier from subrogating to an aircraft renter in the event of a claim.

I have questions that aren't answered here, and I'm feeling a little self conscious that they might be "dumb" questions. Should I contact you and ask?
Yes! You're only dumb if you don't ask.
